Holy Is The Lord God Almighty

Lead a discussion and prayer time based on Revelation 4.

LEADER:Read, or ask someone to read, the following passage of scripture from Revelation 4. After you have read the passage, ask the first question and have a brief discussion. Following the discussion, spend a minute in prayer based on the instruction for that particular question. Ask people to pray sentence prayers or to pray silently. Proceed to the next question and so on. You do not have to spend much time on each question and personal prayer, but allow for good discussion and ample time to pray. Keep things moving based on how you feel the Spirit is moving within your group.

Also before the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal. In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. [7] The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. [8] Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying:
"Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,
who was, and is, and is to come."
[9] Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, [10] the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
[11] "You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being."

What does it mean that God is holy?

Praise God now for his holiness.

What does it mean to you that our God is almighty?

Someone thank God that he is almighty.

What does it mean that God is the God who was, and is, and is to come?

Now praise God for being the God of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

What does it mean to give God glory, honor, and thanks?

Everyone pray a one sentence prayer of glory, honor, or thanks.

How is laying our crowns down at the throne a part of worship?

Take a minute of silence to lay your crowns down before the throne.

What does it mean to you that God is our creator?

Give God thanks for his creation.

In closing read together in unison:

"Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,
who was, and is, and is to come.

You are worthy, our Lord and God,

to receive glory and honor and power,

for you created it all and gave it all. Amen. "
