Homemade Chocolate-Chip Granola Bars

These are easy to make and guaranteed to please.

Ingredients:

½ cup margarine
¾ cup brown sugar
1/3 cup corn syrup
1 ½ tsp vanilla
¼ tsp salt
2 cups oats
1 ½ cup Rice Krispies
½ cup coconut or walnuts
¾ cup chocolate chips

These bars are very rich, and the bonus is that they take about six minutes to prepare. So they are perfect for those nights when the group is switched to your house and you need a snack fast!

In a 9x9 glass pan, melt the margarine in the microwave for 1 minute. Next, stir in the brown sugar, corn syrup, vanilla, and salt—then microwave again for another two or three minutes, until bubbly.

Stir in both cups of oats, the Rice Krispies, and the coconut (or walnuts, depending on your taste). After everything has been mixed in, gently add the chocolate chips on top and press the mixture down with a fork. Then microwave on high for 3 minutes.

Cool, and then cut into small squares that are ready to serve.
