Body Matters

Body Matters

Living out your God-given purpose requires you take care of your body.

There is no escaping it. We live our entire lives in a body—the one and only body God created for us in which to do his will and work. Unfortunately, we often mistreat this body, and we don't realize that it affects how well we're able to live out our purpose. In order to change that, we must accept what God has to say about us: we are loved, valued, and we have an important purpose in his plan. When we understand this truth, we learn to value our physical bodies so we can fulfill our God-given purpose.

Session One

Valued by God

Our worth comes from God alone.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Ephesians 1:3-14; Ephesians 2:1-10

Society's messages have cheapened and disregarded our value, and unfortunately, we've bought into those lies. It's hard for us to grasp how valuable we are to God. This study will explore just how valuable we are. You'll begin to recognize that your worth does not come from the world, but from your relationship with Christ. As you grasp these new truths, you will begin to value not only yourself, but also the body God has given you.

Session Two

Your Body Matters to God

Selfish desires or kingdom desires?
Daniel 1:1-20; Romans 12:1-5; 1 Corinthians 10:23-33

What does it look like to reveal God's glory with our bodies? The truth is, we rarely consider this question when we're choosing what to have for lunch. But what we eat really does matter to God. It can greatly affect our participation in the kingdom, and it can keep us from worshiping and glorifying God to the best of our ability.

Session Three

Healthy Goals for God's Service

Stepping stones that lead to long-term change
Proverbs 4:23-27; 2 Corinthians 5:14-21; Philippians 3:12-14

Forbes Magazine reports that losing weight is consistently the number one New Year's resolution; it also reports that by June over 50 percent of people have abandoned their resolution. Why? Because resolutions are broad statements that have little ambition behind them.

But resolutions can be achieved when there are clear, achievable goals in place and our focus is on Christ. This study will help you set realistic goals for healthy lifestyle changes.
