How do I find what I want?

There are two different ways to locate content on searching and browsing.

Option 1: The Search Tool

You will find the Search Tool at the top of every page on To use the tool, type the word or phrase you're looking for into the search bar. For example, if you were hoping to find a Bible study on the Book of Genesis, type "Genesis" into the search bar.

Then hit Enter or click on the magnifying glass to the right of the search bar. This searches every word on the page, as well as the title and citations. To get the maximum number of results, use words that have broad meanings and apply to a variety of topics—for example, "community."

To get a smaller amount of search results, you have three options. First, you can include more words in your search query. For example, if you want to find an article or resource that deals with worship in community, type "community, worship." (The comma is optional.)

A second way to get a smaller amount of search results is to use quotation marks. For example, type "coaching small group leaders" into the search bar. When you use quotation marks, the search results will only include articles and resources that contain the exact phrase you are searching for. This is a great way to find articles by specific authors, like "John Ortberg."

A third way to limit your search results is to use our Search Dropdown Menu. To do this, type the word of phrase you want to look for into the search bar, and then select Article, Training Tool, or Bible Study from the dropdown menu. Then press enter or click on the magnifying glass. For example, if you only want to look for Bible studies on friendship, type "Friendship" into the search bar, and select Bible Study from the dropdown menu. Then hit enter or click on the magnifying glass.

Option 2: Browse

You can also find what you're looking for by browsing through our different content types and topics. To start, click on the "Browse" link located to the right of the search bar at the top of each page.

Browse all the content on our site with our list of topics under each category (Build Your Ministry, Train Your Leaders, Lead Your Group) will gives you a broad overview of the principles and ideas covered on the site.

To browse our Training Tools, use the dropdown menus to search by topic or type.

To browse our Bible Studies, use the dropdown menus to browse by topic, type, Bible reference, and audience.

You can also search our content by keyword (listed alphabetically) or by Bible reference.

If you still don't find it…

If you aren't able to find material on a topic that you think we've probably covered, try searching with a different form of the word. For example, instead of searching on "forgiving," try "forgiveness." Also, make sure you've spelled the word correctly in the search field.

We also recommend that you try synonyms and related ideas when you search. For example, if you search on "money," you might not receive as many results as a search on "stewardship."
