Darryl has belonged to the same small group for a few years, but things are beginning to unravel. The original group leader moved away, and the rest of the group hasn't yet recovered. Some of the group members have left; others still come but seem bored a lot of the time. One of the members has tried to step up as the new leader, but it hasn't affected a lot of positive change yet.

Darryl isn't sure if he should stick it out and attempt to help the group get back on its feet, or if this is a natural way for the group's life cycle to end.

What do you think? What should Darryl do, and how?

1) Pray about it and see what he believes God wants him to do. 2) Talk to the core (most mature) believers in the group and ask them if they think that it is time without talking about specific people in the group. 3) Ask the group what they like about getting together. 4) Ask the group what they don't like about their gatherings. 5) Seek to improve the areas of weakness and give it a month or two before making a final decision (it will become obvious to most people at that point whether or not the group should continue). 6) If you get to the end of your rope, tell the group that it would be a good idea to break up into other existing groups and strengthen them.
