It's hard for me to believe that 2011 is already over. The year brought a lot of changes to my life—including bringing me to SmallGroups.com. I'm proud to be part of the team that brings you quality resources for your small-group ministry.

Based on the variety of hot topics covered in our most popular downloads last year, I think it's safe to say that the readers of SmallGroups.com faced some major issues in 2011. From orientation guides to atheism to modern portrayals of parables, the top 10 downloads of last year cover a multitude of topics. The best part, though, is that these resources are not specifically tied to 2011. In fact, they're perfect to use in 2012, too. And for a limited time, you can purchase these resources at 25 percent off. Enjoy!

1. Small-Group Leader Orientation Guide

This guide is designed to help you equip your church to provide orientation and basic training to new small-group leaders, and to help seasoned small-group leaders refresh themselves on their responsibilities. You may use it either for a group training session or to give individually to small-group leaders.

2. Is Our Church Discipling?

What does it look like for a disciple to be "fully trained" (Luke 6:40)? The first assessment in this 17-page pack can help you clarify what to aim for as you disciple people in your church. The rest of these assessments can help you evaluate how different aspects of your church's life and ministry might be facilitating or hindering people's growth in Christlikeness.

3. John Ortberg on Our Most Important Choice (4 session course)

Many people of Jesus' day admired him—they admired the words he said and the miracles he performed. But few people chose to follow Jesus. Use this video Bible study to help your group explore why your reaction to that choice will make all the difference in the world.

4. Four Pack: Orientation Guides

A lot of churches wish their small-group leaders were better trained. (For that matter, a lot of group leaders wish they were better trained.) But helping people learn the ins and outs of small-groups ministry is easier said than done, especially if your church doesn't have a full-time staff person on the job.

SmallGroups.com has tried to bridge the gap between the need for training and the lack of training with our series of Orientation Guides. These are packs of practical resources and tools that can help people learn what's expected of them and what they can expect to encounter in their different ministry roles. These guides are a great way to give new group leaders, hosts, facilitators, and group members the training they need.

"Four Pack: Orientation Guides" is a bundled pack containing the following SmallGroups.com training resources:

  • Small-Group Leader Orientation Guide
  • Small-Group Host Orientation Guide
  • Small-Group Facilitator Orientation Guide
  • Small-Group Member Orientation Guide

5. Simply Christian: Why Christianity Makes Sense (10 session course)

N.T. Wright shares the truths from his book Simply Christian in these 10 video sessions. Wright outlines Christianity in a way that challenges viewers but uses language that is easy to understand. These 10 video lessons also come with a PDF discussion guide that corresponds to each lesson.

6. Tim Keller on Practical Theology (7 session course)

This study is based on sermons by Timothy Keller, founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City. He is the author of numerous books, including The Reason for God, The Prodigal God, and Counterfeit Gods.

These resources would be very useful in Africa where Christianity is in most cases a mile wide and an inch deep. The problem is that without the credit card system, it is difficult if not impossible to access them. It would do the kingdom of God in Africa a world of good if you can find a way to make it available for free on line in Africa.
