Dr. Wayne Cordeiro is Senior Pastor of New Hope Christian Fellowship in Honolulu, Hawaii. He has long been a leader in the field of small-groups ministry, and he has led New Hope to use small groups and fractal teams with great success.
In this video clip, Dr. Cordeiro tackles two myths that are prevalent in churches and small-groups ministries today: the Holy Man and the Holy Place. This clip was originally recorded at the 2009 Doing Church as a Team conference.

It is impossible for God's people to give up their holy man and holy place myths as long as they are devoting 75 - 85% of their "giving" to buy these "holy" things for themselves each weak. 99% of churches that have a pastor and a building MUST follow these percentages to make a preacher (or 20 staff members) and a building possible. Jesus gave us an axiom, a law that says where our hearts will be. "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." This "Senior Pastor" needs to give up his title and his expectations that a crowd of people "need" to come hear him teach every week, and get a job. He needs to help God's people give up completely their addiction to crowd oriented, spectator focused gatherings. God never asked for this, so we don't need it. We only need small groups - one another life. They don't require or "consume" 75 - 85% of the giving to make them happen. They can happen for FREE! Then we will haven no holy man/holy place myth.

Excellent teaching on an obviously misunderstood topic. We are ALL called to A ministry whether it be standing behind a pulpit or sitting at your desk sharing a nugget with someone that the Lord has placed in your path. Remember, "It takes a Village to raise a lost soul" We all have our designated parts.
