Under [Christ's] direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love (Ephesians 4:16, NLT).

That's our goal for this small group. Each person plays an important role and the group grows "as each part does its own special work." Together we experience Jesus' love and share it with others. For that reason, we want each person to serve in ways that they find enjoyable.

So, how would you like to serve? You can just try something out. As the group grows and changes, we can easily change roles. Put a check by the role(s) that interest you.

Coordination Roles
  • Small Group Leader or Co-leader (requires training)

  • Small Group Intern (willing to serve as an assistant in preparation for leading your own small group in the future)

  • Small Group Assistant (willing to serve as an assistant to the leaders)

  • Worship Leader (arranging for weekly worship in the group)

  • Outreach Coordinator (organizing our group's involvement in things like serving ministry or Christmas outreaches)

  • Snack Coordinator

  • Prayer Coordinator (records and communicates prayer requests and answers to prayer)

  • Intercessor (prays consistently for the group members and meetings)

  • Fun Coordinator (planning fun events every month or so)

  • Reporter (completes our weekly online small-group attendance reports)

  • Children's Ministry Coordinator (arranging for adults to help with children's ministry as needed)

  • Other: _____________________________________________________

I love the concept behind this: Get every member involved and you'll naturally drive up ownership of the group. I think it should also include a lot of non-meeting related things that members can get involved in doing for the group... after all, healthy small group life is about relationships and a transformational life exchange, not just a weekly church meeting in a home, right?
